WILLING TO STEP FORWARD

I have been a resident of the 5th District for going on 50 years, so I have some historical perspective. Local government in Mendocino County has always been challenging, facing the rigors of nature, the far-flung distances between communities, the declining prosperity of our resource-based economy, and uneven access to communication and information technology. The south Mendocino Coast (the Other Lost Coast!) exhibits all these problems in spades, and all too often seems to be forgotten by the bureaucracy in Ukiah.

I think it is time to correct that by electing Kevin Evans as our representative to county government. Kevin is a South Coast citizen who knows the area through his involvement with many civic organizations and volunteer positions. He shops and supports our local businesses, drives the same roads we do with the same potholes, sees the effects of rural neglect from Washington an Sacramento, and is willing to step forward to address these problems for us at the Board of Supervisors. He has an extensive background in working with local government from his work life before moving to Anchor Bay, understanding the processes and pitfalls of budgets, staffing, regulation, negotiation, and coalition building to achieve results.

I know Kevin to be a man of honesty and integrity, with a calm and careful temperament that will serve us well in Ukiah. Please join me in voting for Kevin Evans for 5th District Supervisor.
